Organisational Design & Job Evaluation

Untitled Document

Good job evaluation is a core part of fair salary management and grading systems. Whether your organisation is considering a new grading structure, moving to job families or broad banding, changing its pay structures or just seeking to undertake a review of jobs and salaries, please contact us so that we can help you succeed by delivering expert help and support.

Good Organisational Design can ensure that your structures and jobs are operating at their most efficient. If your organisation is going through a period of change and you are restructuring, or you are planning to change the way that people will work in the future, then good Organisational Design processes are vital to success.

Too often organisations look at the people they have and then try and shoehorn them into new structures or roles. This is very understandable but great operating structures are not built that way. The following model shows how organisational design should be undertaken for maximum effectiveness.

Managing Director Paul Bissell has had over a decade of experience of organisational design and change consultancy. He is an expert in Hay job evaluation and has also extensively used job classification systems including Watson Wyatt and Towers Perrin. Once you have clarified your business strategy then Paul can support you by working with business heads to build new structures and roles, evaluating and ranking jobs and building the appropriate reward packages.

Job Evaluation

The classification and sizing of jobs is vital to ensure that rewards are appropriate and fair. However Job Evaluation is not just a tool to use for defending equal pay claims. The technique is an incredibly 'change management' design tool.

Paul has extensive experience of using job evaluation systems across a broad spectrum of business areas/professions. He has managed major change programmes which have involved evaluating/re-evaluating hundreds of jobs, salary matching them to establish correct levels of remuneration and in the process built job databases to enable ongoing maintenance of jobs and structures.
